On the cross at Calvary, Christ bore our sins. 1 Peter 2:24 says, “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Jesus became accursed for us on the cross. “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:13-14).”
He literally became sin for us on the cross. In 2 Corinthians 5:21, it says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Jesus Christ broke Satan’s hold over the human family on the cross, “having spoiled principality he made a show over them openly triumphing over them in it (Colossians 2:15).”
The cross is no longer in Jerusalem today. It is no longer seen upon Golgotha. It’s gone. However, Jesus, the One Who hung upon that cross, Who died for our sins, became accursed, broke Satan’s power and redeemed us by His blood is alive, and His power and love works today to save us from sin!
This Jesus came into my heart when I was sixteen years of age and delivered me of my sins. He set me free from spiritual death. Jesus’ entrance into my life transformed me into a new person. Then He began to reveal Himself to my family and He gave us a household salvation. He said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house (Acts 16:31).”
I want you to know that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He did for us on the cross over two thousand years ago, He does for us today when we reach out with faith.
