Soon, we’ll be on our way to Kenya. While we are there, we will dig fresh water wells, train leaders, and add to the value of life in neglected communities. However, we are going primarily for the eternal salvation of souls! Receiving salvation by the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift we can receive; sharing this Gospel is the greatest gift we can give! “The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but to us which are saved, it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18).”
In the last moments of Stephen’s life, he called on the name of Jesus. “And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit (Acts 7:59)!” The same powerful name that saves us from sin also has assuring power (assuring us of our salvation) at the moment of passing!
