“Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her master much gain through soothsaying.”Acts 16:16
This particular devil, identified as Python in the Greek, possessed the slave girl and had predictive powers. Its soothsaying or divination through demonic communication was used by the girl’s owners and turned into a profitable business! When the demon was cast out by Paul, she lost the source of her soothsaying ability, and the slave masters lost their money!
In order to deceive Paul and attempt to keep its position within the girl, this talking Python demon used words of flattery, stating, “These men are the servants of the most high God which show us the way of salvation!” Paul silenced its voice and cast it out of the girl. When demonic words are used against you –even flattery– shut it down and get rid of it!
