“The Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands” (Judges 15:14).
Samson was turned over to the Philistines by his own people, the tribe of Judah. After promising Samson they would not attack him personally, the people of God bound him with ropes and delivered him over to appease their Philistine enemies’ anger. The Philistines were about to kill him when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him! The ropes easily melted away, and Samson defeated his enemies! Interestingly enough, his enemies were the enemies of God’s people, so the guilty ones who tied him up and delivered him over in fear were actually delivered as well!
When the church, through tradition and fear, binds you with ropes of doubt and unbelief, ask for the fire of God’s presence to burn them off! You will arise with new energy and defeat the abusive spirit (the Philistine) plaguing your life!
