Jeremiah was mocked and imprisoned. Consequently, he was discouraged about giving any more prophetic words of judgment. In his state of isolation and self pity, he said, ” I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His name. But His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay” (Jeremiah 20:9). In others words, though he tried to stop preaching, he could not! The living word was as fire, and it had to come out! He had become weary of keeping it down, or keeping it “shut up” in his bones. He then prophesied anew and afresh, and he never stopped!
Despite setbacks, misunderstandings and persecution that may discourage you, speak again and again and never stop!
